The Compass Scholar Program invests in rural high school students across the American Heartland, empowering them to overcome barriers to higher education and thrive as leaders in their communities. Through mentorship, guidance, and leadership development, Compass equips Scholars with the support they need to succeed in high school and beyond.

About the Role
The Strategy & Marketing Intern will be responsible for designing, executing, and managing Compass’s end-of-year giving campaign. This is a dynamic, hands-on role where you will map out campaign strategy, produce content, coordinate staff, and elevate Compass’s public presence during this critical growth period.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a clear campaign strategy and timeline for October–December giving campaign.

  • Create and manage content for social media, email, and website to highlight Compass’s mission and impact.

  • Post consistently across Compass’s digital platforms to keep donors and community engaged.

  • Conduct outreach to potential donors, partner organizations, and supporters.

  • Coordinate with Compass staff to unify messaging and campaign activities.

  • Monitor campaign progress, track donor engagement, and provide weekly updates.

Requirements

  • Strong writing and communication skills

  • Creative approach to storytelling and content production

  • Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, X/Twitter, TikTok)

  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple moving parts on deadline

  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively with a team

  • Reliable, self-starter, and eager to contribute to a growing nonprofit

Desired Skills

  • Experience in marketing, communications, fundraising, or nonprofit work

  • Graphic design and video editing skills (Adobe Suite or similar)

  • Prior experience running or supporting a campaign (fundraising, political, social impact, etc.)

  • Passion for education, equity, and service

Commitment & Support

  • Anticipated start date: early to mid-October 2025

  • ~10 hours/week (some heavier, some lighter weeks)

  • ~12 weeks

  • Fully remote role, with flexible scheduling

  • Regular check-ins with Compass directors and staff

Compensation & Benefits

The intern will be paid on an hourly basis at $25/hr. In addition to financial compensation, the Intern will gain:
